  • When you book a ticket for one of our come and sing Haydn “Nelson” Mass Tour events, the fun starts before the day itself. With the confirmation of your booking you will receive a digital resource pack to help you prepare for the event, whether you are learning the music for the first time, or just refreshing your memory. The pack includes:

    • A digital score of the whole work;

    • Recorded line-by-line teaching sessions for each voice part, plus full choir overview rehearsals;

    • Learning tracks with each voice part louder.

    At the event itself, our charismatic Musical Director Ben England BEM will lead you through the whole Haydn “Nelson” Mass in workshops throughout the day. You will also have the opportunity to meet and socialise with the other singers.

    After the workshops, Ben will conduct us in an informal, late-afternoon concert performance of the “Nelson” Mass, accompanied by four soloists and a pianist/organist.

    PLEASE NOTE: pictures and video of the event may be taken and displayed on our website, social media accounts and/or YouTube channel. Please let us know prior to each event if you prefer NOT to be in a video by emailing Mark at comeandsing@labradorevents.com.

  • We will rehearse, sing and perform the whole Haydn “Nelson” Mass throughout the day.

    Please bring your own score. Please note: we will NOT have any scores on site.

    We provide a free digital score with your resource pack, which you can either bring on a portable device such as a tablet or, if you prefer, print a copy.

    Alternatively you may wish to source your own printed score. The link to purchase a printed score will be emailed to you as soon as you purchase a ticket.

  • We will confirm the proposed timings for each event in your joining instructions, which will be sent to attendees one week prior to the event. However, the general outline of the day for each event is:

    • Doors open at 09:00 (10:00 for London).

    • Morning break. Complimentary tea and coffee is provided.

    • Second singing workshop.

Final 6 Masses by Joseph Haydn

This year, Labrador Events’ sister choir, Choir of the Earth, has been learning and recording Haydn’s “Nelson” Mass. It is the online rehearsals and guide tracks from this course that you will receive when you book a place on this tour, helping you to learn or refresh your memory of the music. We hope you enjoy using these resources.

The “Nelson” Mass is one of the Six Last Masses that Haydn composed near the end of his life for the Esterházy family. They are sublime examples of Haydn’s genius and some of the best-loved works in the choral repertoire.

Each January/February for the next 5 years, Choir of the Earth will learn and record the remaining 5 of these Last Masses with Ben England BEM. This is a unique choral adventure that many singers will not have the opportunity to go on with their local choirs.
